Pratfalls of real estate

You wouldn't normally think of real estate sales as a hazardous undertaking, but it has its moments--placing directional signs on busy highways, entering homes unannounced, etc. One such incident occurred last month when I was showing a house in Buckingham. As we were leaving the house, I stepped on the edge of the sidewalk, turning my ankle in the process. When that happens, you can't really put any weight on it, so you sometimes fall. I fell.

I tumbled into the garden and landed on my shoulder. I rolled with it, quite gracefully I thought, and ended up flat on my back unhurt, though a bit embarrassed. We had a pretty good laugh about it, but I was debating with myself as to whether I should tell my wife about my little mishap. The first thing Meg said to me after I walked in the house was, "How did you get dirt on your jacket?''

Debate over
